Subject:Prashant.. the topper.. gives a top class treat!!

Mood: happy

Yesterday.. was a good day.... not just bcoz it was sunday.. but bcoz... yesterday prashant(my present room mate... n FPGDST batchmate...) gave a nice treat as he had been felicitated as the topper of our FPGDST-2005 batch n awarded a certificate of merit and a cash award of 2,000 at a high profile function celebrated as "Technology day.." on the 20th of this month.

The entry to the function("technology day") was on invites only..so only the toppers had been called. From whatever i have gathered out of the several blogs tht i read about the same... the event was a success as there was a proper mix of technology.. enlightening speeches n the cultural events...

getting back to the treat tht we had.... it was fun to b dining with around 13 of our FPGDST batch mates... it was more of a reunion kind of a thing ....n more the merrier. We ordered a variety of dishes.. swagat was impeccable with his choice of dishes.. as he had chicken cooked in all various forms.. laid out on the table... the food was good.. but wht made it grt was the fact.. tht we had a such a huge group...

Such dinners/reunions.. shud b more frequent.... any sponsors???

we did click a few pics with Vikas's mobile.. n am waiting for them .. so as to upload them here,,,,

The caption for the movie is really touching...
"IN PRISON SHE FOUND HER FREEDOM !!" it makes ppl sit back n notice...
Dont mistake it to b a masterpiece. but again...its no boy meets girl n love blossoms story as it draws its inspiration from real life..

Wht stands out in the film is certainly Aishwarya.. with a very subtle n realistic portrayal of a wife "Provoked". Its a real delight to see her sans her make up.. and deliver a performance without being too loud n over the top.Her vulnerable face and those expressive eyes.. convey much without any words bein spoken.. Shes beautiful, sensitive and insecure all at the same time... Naveen andrews has been given a very weak character and Jag Mundhra has certainly failed to exploit his acting prowess. The rest of the cast (aish's cell mates) deliver as well. Nandita Das has been wasted.. n the two lawyers who take up aishs case have done a grt job.

The movie cud have been much better, had the director stuck to the real story.. but no taking away from this film.. its a good attempt and certainly deserves to stand out!!

Subject:Some B'Days r meant to b SPECIAL
Security:Public
Mood: touched

There r some days tht r meant to b special... This B'day of mine was just tht.. rather too special....

when I reached home, there were all my friends waitng for me...
Anurag, shibu, arun, amitabh n my room-partners had arranged for a beautiful cake ..

So at the stroke of midnight on saturday.. i received my most severe birthday bumps.... n then it was cake smearing n some special ppl (namely.. Lingu, anurag ) gettin picked up for a few more kicks.. n fun..

the next few hours were spent screaming n teasing others... n b4 we cud even realize it was almost 2.00am

4th Feb, Sunday we all got up.. a little earlier than usual Sundays... n there was tea tht Prashant had made for us all.... A perfect beginning of a grt day...

Shibu made Fish curry and arun tested his Culinary skills with matar paneer.. n so we had all a grt lunch...

Evening i had to leave for juhu to collect some gifts n meet some friends.. n i had way too many surprises waiting for me... Two Shirts of Arrow, a big box full of imported chocolates , a parker pen from Amitabh, and AKON ka Cd n some chocolates from Bhargavi... n loads of wishes from everyone on orkut.... they have all made me feel so special....

On Monday, when i reached my desk in CCIL i was in for a pleasant surprise.
There was a beautiful cake n card waiting for me... My colleagues in CCIL IT had remembered n did all this planning on friday itself... Thanks a million for makin me feel so good....

.......................................

There are times. when we need to b spoilt, pampered, cared for n made to feel special.... I guess thts why we(rather our Frends) celebrate Our bdays.... n it sure does add more to life than just adding years.....
The celebrations have started from saturday.. n have been continued till monday.... i really hope they never end.....

Subject:salaam. "salame Ishq..."

Mood: disappointed

Cant say tht i was very disappointed, but then.. wasn't impressed by the movie in its totality either..

The trouble is everywhere to b seen.. Starting with an awefully long running length of almost 4 hours, this movie at times does get on the nerves..
n to top it all theres PRIYANKA CHOPRA who makes u feel like getting up n leaving the theatre whenever she appears on screen... Sorry but this former miss world just cant act.. n if u have followed her movies lately... U won't find too much difference in her acting. be it Krish , Don or Salame Ishq... there's hardly any difference in her portrayal...

salman khan too disappoints with his woven hair.. n a badly written role... but still his charisma is attracting the crowds...

but "The surprise" in this movie spanning SIX love stories is govinda(with his firang lead), anil/Juhi, John/Vidya. they have brought some sense n sensibility to this otherwise chaotic n senseless film. The script cud have been worked on a little more... n where was the editor??
The songs r there just for the sake of it... n after a looong.. loooooooong time... the trio of shankar ehsaan loy.. disappoint. there r just two tracks tht u can recollect ... "baton baton me.... le gaya koi dil.." in the magical voice of adnan sami, reaches ur heart straight away... n the title track.. "salame ishq".. is already ruling the charts.. n the rest of the songs r as much a waste as the actors n their roles..(ayesha takia n akshay khanna have been horribly wasted)

The choreography leaves much to b desired... N the director cud have done better by trying to keep his scenes.. a little closer to reality.. especially the CLIMAX..

The movie does have its few moments of glory.. "govinda n her 'my-dom' " stir ur soul right away...n ur heart aches everytime U see john/vidya cry..

The final verdict... say "salaam" to this movie.. but keep the distance
( read :from outside the theatre)

Nikhil advani.... did U direct KAl Ho NA Ho??????

Subject:Nach baliye....

...................

Nach baliye.... Looses its best dancing jodi.... [ tanaz n bakhtiyar...]

.........

I had never felt so strongly against any of the judges on star One's flagship show NACH BALIYE as i felt for Saroj Khan n Kunal after Tanaz n bhaktiyar were ousted from the show...needless to say.. [saroj khan n kunal kapoor were the evil doers..]

Nach baliye was supposed to b a DANCE show... n the best dancing couple deserved to win... but it seems tht on the show... at least two of the judges (saroj n kunal).. rank improvement higher than consistency.. Else there was no reason of them giving tanaz n bhaktiyar lower scores than the other two pairs..(hussain n teena and yash n gauri.)

Tanaz n bhaktiyar were called arrogant n over confident.. to which i completely disagree.. It was only malaika who alwayz supported them.. n i think she was always right.

Saroj khan n kunal seem to have certain grudges against this high energy level... n perfectionist couple... The couple looked confident on stage bcos they were very well rehearsed n it was their sheer energy n dedication.. tht some of the judges.. did not like too much...
Prior to the semis.. tanaz n bhaktiyar were constantly being told to tone down their energy levels n performance.. n when they did just tht with a very subtle n touching performance on the title track of yaadein... they got very low scores.. even though the judges did mention tht it was a very touching performance n they liked it...

whats wrong in being too good.. may b saroj n kunal can explain tht... But its evident tht their stark comments affected the audience voting..

I was following nach baliye.. very religiously... but unfortunately.. the couples who have made it to the finals.. don't even come remotely close to tanaz n bhaktiyar..

The first season of Nach baliye too had something very similar.. when varun badola n rajeshwari sachdev ( Extremely talented n deserving couple).. were ousted..

May b theres some problem with the shows format.... instead of ranking them merely on the audience n public voting for just two performances.. let it b kind of a cumulative score...this will ensure tht the couple who has been performing well for weeks.. but has a bad day doesn't have to suffer too much...

I hope the concerned ppl r listening...

Dance shows r supposed to b just tht.... Dance show............
n the audience will surely b happier to see a better dancing couple win.....

Here's a flick tht Bollywood can b proud of....
................

Hats off to sanjay gadhvi for making this flick.. with loads of style.. n Some great..sizzling performances.. from its lead cast...

Theres not much story to b talked about... n for a pleasant change.. The audience.. will probably not notice the absence of a storyline in DHOOM:2.

Its Stars r its soul....barring obviously..(Uday chopra .. as ali..)
Uday does have a few moments of his.. but thts only when he does not speak..
The moment he tries dialogue delivery... He fails badly..

After a long time.. a movie has come.. which rides on nothing but sheer star power.... hats off to the stylist for redefining the way. ASH n HRITHIK look on Screen... but kudos to the star themselves... for carrying their makeovers with great aplomb...
..............

The screenplay does not let the audience loose interest in the movie even for a second... n ASH n HRITHIK's screen presence .. ensures tht u dont even wink ur eyes...

The movie comes alive... whenever... The lead pair (ASH n HRITHIK) come together on Screen.. here is a pair who can show the world.. what style.. n substance is all about...

Abhishek does justice to what has been assigned to him.. n Bipasha does her bit too .. n is not too far behind ASH when it comes to the glam quotient.

The music... is good... specially "Crazy kiya re" .. n "DHOOM: again"... r sure fire hits...

Shiamaks choreography of the song "Dhoom again".. keeps the audiences enthralled till the last frame.. n the special effects dazzle..

All in a all a movie... tht u cant afford to miss....

Go for it..

Yesterday. was an amazing day to say the least..... the previous night we(the grp tht i used to play garba with here in Moraj (vashi)) decided to have a proper practise and training sesion.. b4 we came for the final garba ras on the final day.

so at 4.00 clock .. 6 ppl came to my house.. n the practise began.. we first ensured tht evrybody.. learnt the basic step..tht had become our trademark... n then it was time for some experiments... as we tried to practise... few... self choreographed... moves... n trust me.. tht was grt...

we practised for almost 2.5 hrs... n we had no idea how time flew..

Then it was time for the action to begin... All 6 of us were dressed traditionally.. complete with dhoti n kurta for the guyz.. n lehenga.. for the girls.. n as we 6 took the floor ... it was evident tht we had everybodys attention...
..........................

n with everyone.. executing their steps to a perfection.. it was a delightful sight...
..........................

after some time... it kind of started drizzling.. n soon after it started raining heavily... but we 6 were in no mood to b deterred... as we continued with our synchronised steps... much to the delight of the ppl around us... n tht encouraged more ppl to do the rain-garba...

finally it was the prize distribution time... n it was not unexpected tht all the top honours were bagged by our group members.... n after some posing for the camera..it was time to thank all the members for the wonderful time.. tht we had... more than anything.. we had now formed a good frend circle...
..........................

Certainly.. one of the best..navratris tht i have had... n these last few days... r for sure gonna b remembered as some of the best days...of my life......

Subject:Dor.... a gem of a movie.. don't miss it...

Mood: pensive

This weekend I got a chance to watch the Nagesh Kukunoor directed... Dor.. n i was more than impressed.

.............................
With movies like Rockford, 3-deewarein n Iqbal in his kitty, Nagesh is one director who really knows what he wants to show on screen... n he does that with elan..

Dor.. is a story of two newly married couples n how their lives cris cross paths n how bonds develop n are tested ... One couple(Gul panag n ..) is from the lush green valleys of haryana and the other one (Aysha takia n .. )from the royal sands of rajasthan.

Read about the ..Story... )

The soundtrack n the background score are great pieces of music ..n will haunt ppl for long.. especially. "Kesariya..Baalma..ni .. padharo. maare desh..." The Cinematography is top class n shows both rajasthan n himachal..in all their glory...

Dor.. rides on the great performances from all its cast... But Ayesha Takia really stands out with a very balanced performance..... Gul panag proves once again that she can act... n act well.... Shreyas Talpade.. is simply said superb...

all in all a grt movie.... well done nagesh... This Dor.. certainly.. stretches to the audiences heart...

Waiting for more from U Mr. Kukunoor.....

Yesterday was one of those days.. tht i wont b able to forget.. for a long long time... It was only yesterday tht i wrote that long ..long blog mentioning how frustrated i was..bcuz of not being able to play some proper garba here in Vashi... n yesterday night only i got a grt group who were playing some classy garba... n it was just too good.... doing garba with them..

They were just a small grp.. 3 to b precise.. but they had the perfect moves n i was more than happy... following their dance steps. i though did try to do a few of my own steps.. n even taught one of them,,, but largely.. i stuck to their moves... n i had a grt grt time..

So today .. i am eagerly ... waiting for night to dawn... n the garba to begin....

n thnks a lot God.. i really needed this... n it feels so good i just cant explain...

... So now.. its a very very jubilant n excited.. deeps.. saying..

Subject:Navratri..begins.....

Mood: ecstatic

This is that special time of the year for which i crave right through the year... n finally when its here... am still waiting for something..

Navratri assumes the utmost importance for me..when it comes to festivals.. n the only reason being that.. theres so much of music n energy in the air.. n what more can a music n dance lover ask for...

The magic of the "garba/dandiya raas" is such tht it kind of casts some sort of a magical spell on me... The music is such that it becomes virtually impossible for me to stand still... n if u have ppl all dressed up traditionally and matching the rhythm of the garba raas beats with their swift and intrinsic moves... who can stand out and not dance....

These two days of navratri though haven't gone the way i wud have wanted them to b like... The main reason is tht i miss my gujju frends from my engineering college... and even though most of them r in mumbai itself... we still aren't able to find a suitable time n venue where we can all come together...

I miss these frendz more at this time of the year bcos.. i had some of my best navratris with them... They were the ones who introduced me to this amazing thing called garba.. n which did not take much time to go ahead n become my passion..

Vashi where i am curently staying has several places where mandals have organised dandiya/garba raas... but unfortunately... there r not many who can actually move their bodies, as per the traditional garba moves requirement..
n i usually find it very amusing to see ppl.. playing dandiya all the while.. the only thing which i dont like about dandiya is the fact tht it so repetitive. U really dont have much moves except for the fact that u can use your dandiya stick to show ur mastery in rotating them.. But still the sound of the dandiya sticks clinging.. is more than enough to set the spirit soaring... N on the other hand .garba has so much variations tht u can never do all of them... theres so much to experiment with.. tht u just cant have enough..

But these days.. usually.. i end up being a spectator..watching ppl doing complete injustice to these great dance forms.."garba" n "dandiya.."
n tht makes me yearn even more for my gujju frendz... who were such masters at these... HEMAL, MOHIT, HARISH i miss u all so much yaarr..
n it was so much fun.. doing those typical gujrati Garba steps with u all...like "popatyu..", "Dodyuu.." n all tht...

Going by the proceedings around me.. i can easily say... tht i have a better time remembering those great garba nights with frends of mine... than i do now..

but still.... will try to see if i do get ppl who can match my moves of garba.. but till then.. it will b the "memories of the earlier navratris" .. keepin my spirits soaring.....

till next time.. this is deeps.. saying..
...... hey halo halo.....

Subject:Essel world/ rohits fare - ye - well....[17th september...]
Security:Public
Mood: nostalgic

It was a much publicised day... Initiated as a GET-TO-GET-HER ( Gettogther ) but which later turned out to b more of a funday with rohits farewell providing the perfect backdrop for an emotional n an enjoyable outing or a few select ppl...( we though had informed almost everyone we cud.. n Bhargavi had even sent something around 8 mails regarding the same....)

Essel world... rohits farewell

The day began.. much too earlier than the other sundays.. for we planned to catch the 7:53 am train from vashi...

B4 i proceed ne further... depending on the emails n personal contacts tht we had.. the count of ppl attending this GET-To-GET-HER was around 18. n it included Amitabh, bhargavi, priyanka, vikas, anurag, swagat, abhishek agarwal, lingraj, shailesh, abhishek kumar, mayank, avneet, manish kumar, dinesh thakur,Shibu, vasant, rohit n me..

with this number , n these ppl it was virtually impossible to keep things goin..on time. So instead of catching the 7.53 train we ended up catching 8.45 from vashi... n instead of reaching eselworld at 10.30 it was 11.30 when we reached the ticket counter..

We were fortunate to get a 50% discount on the ticket price for carrying our ID cards.. so it was a great way to begin the fun...
Once inside the park. we started with the dashing cars.. the lesser version of it.. but enuff to get everyone.. all charged up... we hooted for some ppl when we were the audience n clapped at their exit... THE FUN...WAS EVERYWHERE..

next we went on to some of the bigger rides ..the giant wheel[enterprise].. n the real thing..[THUNDER.....]
The giant wheel went fine.. but there were few who opted out of it... n then there was the big moment.. Time for some real adventure... A ride on THUNDER..

there were not many takers but we still got a good crowd to get into it... n this included bhargavi {obviously she was not aware of this trouble called THUNDER } once the ride began.. ppl were ecastatic with excitement n thrill... but as it gained height n started suspending us upside down for some seconds.. ppl gasped for breath... n others ( Lingraj, Manish, Abhishek) wormitted.... but i had agreat time.. n hats off to bhargavi for her dare-devilry...

The ones who backed off from venturing into thunder were.. shailesh.. abhishek kumar, shibu... but then they certainly missed out on some real action....

we follwed this up with a much easier ride.. aptly titled.."Aqua - dive" n it gave us a much deserved shower... but eventually. even rain gods came out to bless us.. as it started drizzling.. n the rains only added to the fun...

It was way over noon.. n time for some pet-pooja.. so we had a nice chinese fill b4 venturing for some rock climbing..

then we went to roller coaster for some more action.. n we were not too disappointed.... we follwed this up with dashing cars.. which was enjoyed by everyone... so much so tht we ended up in the same queue thrice... back to back..

n then it was gift time.. as we gave rohit a cd n a parker pen as a souvenir... The CD was made by bhargavi.. n had a compilation of rohits pics.. with some witty captions and a few messages from some NCST'ians... n the parker was Shibu's choice n was of a good sleek.. metallic finish.. rohit must have felt.... great...

Then we tried for ice skating. but the waiting time was too long so went for Rocking alley for some bowling. But to our surprise.. we found a rocking disc.. n there we were.. on the DANCE-FlOOR.... with renewed Vigour n energy. It was grt.. with most of the ppl trying their best to shake their body in sync with the beats....

Time seemed to b flying away. n b4 we cud realize it was much past 7.00 .. 7.45 to b exact... n time to leave...

When we reached borivali .. we all went for dinner at a nearby hotel.. n it did not turn out to b as bad as i had imagined.. Infact the food there was good.. but the best part was tht all 18 of us were there togther... n it felt grt... to be eating togther.... ( reminded me of the NCST canteen...)

after tht we all left..tired ..n drenched.. but with a great feeling... The Friendship bonds tht we developed at NCST (at least some..if not all...) do have some strength to keep us together...

With hopes.. tht such meetings.. dont remain rare... n scarce... this is deeps.. wishing rohit a grt life ahead....

What a better way to start my blogs than this...
I'll quote my status message for gmail today
....."The dream begins, most of the time, with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you on to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called truth.".. Today is no different from the others..when we remember our teachers....
.......Happy Teachers Day....

N i was more than happy tht i met R.P sir n Archana mam online n hence cud wish them "Happy teachers day..." although there were many more whom i wanted to wish.. but newayz... they will alwayz b fondly remembered.....

While coming to work today in the morning; in the overcrowded train.. I remembered all my special teachers ... specially the ones who had always pampered me... who alwayz encouraged me.. who always scolded me for my mistakes... n who alwayz expected more from me.... n am really happy to mention tht i remember all of them so well... b it my Second standard teacher mrs. helen, or Miss margret martin(who alwayz gave me special attention).. the very strict Mr. Donald martin(he alwayz expected me to have all the right answers.. ) Mr Kim(better known as hitler... but for me.. he was the person who got me admitted to my alma mata... "DON BOSCO ACADEMY... patna..") n mr Allen Cowell n Peter Dsouza....(They inspired me so much to have a good command on this language.. n without their help n teachings.. i wud never b the deepak tht i am....)

N i cant forget my teachers at NCST-kharghar... Archana mam for her never ending efforts to teach us DATA-structures.. Ripul sir for alwayz being there for everything..n... the list is endless...

But what actually sets the NCST faculty aside was their SPORT... RP sir, RIPUL sir, SRINIVAS sir, CHINTU sir for their field presence in volleyball . n Rupesh sir, RP sir n Ripul sir for their athleticism on the Badminton court...

It seems i can write endlessly on these amazing breed of ppl , lovingly called TEACHERS...

n b4 i end.. thank u so much RP sir for it was u who helped me get into this world of blogging....

wud try to keep blogging regularly....
til then... n'joy.... n have loads of fun...
